High winds, turbine turning, inverter in turbine mode yet not producing!
by Stuart at 2007-09-16 11:16:02 (Blog::Stuart)
In todays high wind I wondered why we were not making electricity. The turbine was flying round, so nothing wrong there. I then checked the inverter.
That was fine in the correct mode, but no electricity was being produced. A look a the raw output showed the voltage needle touching 450vdc, yet the amps were on zero.

I then isolated the turbine and allowed the inverter to shut down. I then re-connected the turbine and waited. As soon as the inverter had finished grid monitoring it immediately started outputting at 2kws.

Since then all has been fine. I guess something went wrong with the grid monitoring in the initial start up?

Hope it dosen't happen again. I wonder if this is the same problem that others have had recently leading to the inverters over volting?
