I read your post with interest, as we are planning to move to the Orkneys from Yorkshire. When we make the move, we hope to have a wind turbine as part of our plans to be as carbon neutral as possible.
As we are looking for a croft or a small holding on Orkney, we have subscribed to your local newspaper, The Orcadian. If I recall rightly, wern't there some articles in that last year where Proven turbines became damaged in not too high winds? I seem to remember one story about a turbine where one of the blades nearly came off, and then, only a few weeks later, another turbine where some dampers and plastic covers got ripped off.
I cant find the editions that these articles were, in, but am pretty sure thats what happened. Do you remember seeing these?
Best wishes
Roger
