I am in the process of getting a Proven 6 wind turbine. Planning permission has been granted, the quote from the approved installer has come, and the application for the grant is in the post. All was going well until one of the installers engineers told me that they have a hard job getting more than 4.5 kw out of a Proven machine. I decided to ask Proven Energy if this was the case and spoke to one of their head office engineers who gave me his word that a Proven 6 will definitely produce at least 6kw at 12 metres per second. He also said the 4.5kw output figure referred to applied to one machine he knew about and the problem was being rectified.
So, who is right? The installers engineer is very keen on the Eoltec 6 kw turbine as it has outperformed the Proven in trials. The Eoltec has a lower survival speed however and I live in a very windy part of Britain so am reluctant to get one, plus I still believe in buying British if I can. Any information on Proven output figures, reliability and after sales service would be greatly appreciated.
