Availability of CHP Boilers
by bryan at 2006-12-20 14:15:57 (Forum::Public::Boilers)
Hi...first post

I've been looking at the area of domestic CHP boilers with interest and I'm now in the market to possibly by one.

Now the technology is not that new, in fact it's 100 years old but that's another matter. Anyway, two companies have been developing them... BG group and Whispergen (being sold through Powergen)

However, since 2005 BG have been claiming it'll be available soon (testing being done in Holland from what I remember) and Powergen have withdrawn them from sale until they complete building a factory to mass produce them in Eastern Europe. It was stated that these will be available in Feb 2007 at an unknown cost though as the homebuilt sample ones sold last year were £3000 it was stated that this would be the likely price.

The date of availability is now uncertain and the waiting list grows longer

Surely there must be others availvable which I'm not aware of!

So much for the great push for CHP and the benefits of changing...estimations of take up by 2020 would result in enough energy being produced /saved to equal that being output at present by the nuclear sector in the energy equation.

Most of the available units in the UK are for small housing projects or commercial sized buildings

So, can anyone give me more information, developments?
