This is a link to a (19Mb) Windows Media Video file showing air traffic movements for large civil aircraft over a 24 hour period (4/1/09).
Pretty scary stuff.
It is a 24 hour observation of all of the large aircraft flights in the world, (apparently recorded by the 'plane flight transponders, via Geo-stationary orbital satellites), patched together and condensed down to about a minute. (viz. what you see is 24 hrs duration compressed into 1 minute).
From space, Europe, North America & China look like real a bee hives of activity during their respective daylight hours.
Nothing carbon neutral here ...
