Re: Thermal Heatstore - any good???

Simon, thanks foryour feedback.
If I were to replace my heatstore with a large capacity hot water cylinder with two coils, one for conventional closed hot water circuit fed by an efficient condensing boiler and the other connected to a solar panel system, would this make energy savings?
In your experience, are the control systems for solar panels reliable? The other considering factor is whether my roof would support the weight of the solar panels. According to Persimmon, the roof (loft area) is not designed to take additional loading due to the fact that the second floor extends into the roof space and therefore the design of the roof reduces the strength of the construction. Is this right? Surely not?
