As a new user of the site thanks to so many for some great information and specific details on your individual experiences with owning a proven wind turbine.
I am in the process of having my site surveyed for a wind turbine. I think the wind is not the problem as we are in a very windy location on the north west coast of Ireland. My nearest Met Station - Malin Head - which I can see on a clear day gave me stats of avg mean wind speed of 16 knots taken over a 14 year period.
My main concern is that I have a small site and the turbine will be within about 4 metres of the house. I would appreciate any views on that from you folk especially noise. Our Gov this last week announced details of support for domestic microgenerators and planning is NOT required up to 15 mtrs height. Also as of now the state electricity board do NOT purchase surplus from small generators but that is about to change.
Would appreciate your views / comments.
