It's that time of year...
by Simon at 2008-04-04 11:20:21 (Blog::Simon)
We've just reached the time of year where we're able to switch off the timer for oil-fired hot water and rely entirely on our solar panels again.

That's because the sky's bright enough to provide enough heat for our daily hot water requirements (save for the occasional exception).

Having bought 1000 litres of oil on 11th Jan, we've used 300 providing hot water and central heating up until the end of March.

Our consumption should now fall to practically nothing until late September (if last year's anything to go by, rainy though it was).

With oil being around 50p/l at present - even with BoilerJuice's discount - our panels should save us about £300 this year.

At that rate, the investment'll be paid off in 9 years.
