World Air Traffic
by Peter at 2009-01-22 15:55:23 (Blog::Peter)
This is a link to a (19Mb) Windows Media Video file showing air traffic movements for large civil aircraft over a 24 hour period (4/1/09).

Pretty scary stuff.

http://radar.zhaw.ch/resources/airtraffic.wmv

It is a 24 hour observation of all of the large aircraft flights in the world, (apparently recorded by the 'plane flight transponders, via Geo-stationary orbital satellites), patched together and condensed down to about a minute. (viz. what you see is 24 hrs duration compressed into 1 minute).

From space, Europe, North America & China look like real a bee hives of activity during their respective daylight hours.

Nothing carbon neutral here ...
