I am reluctant to give up and replace the light fittings themselves as they are attractive and expensive. But at the moment that are extravagant and use far more energy that the rest of the lights in the entire house put together.

Has any one any experience of LEDs lights?

Or do low energy halogen lamps exist?

Is there another solution that I am missing bar removing the light fittings and starting again?
