The latest e-ROC Auction of Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) was completed today, Thursday, 9 October 2008, with just over 100,000 (including just over 10,000 co-fired ROCs) being purchased.

The average price was £51.34. (The average price in the last auction held in July for 07/08 period ROCs was £53.27).

Renewable Obligation Certificates are issued under the terms of the Renewables Obligation Order, the Renewables Obligation Order (Scotland) and the Renewables Obligation Order (Northern Ireland), the Government's mechanisms for increasing the proportion of electricity produced from renewable sources.

The next e-ROC auction is due to be held 13 January 2009.
