Ecotricity slashes FiT for wind pioneers
by David Hobbs at 2013-03-16 19:44:23 (Forum::Public::Wind)
Ecotricity announces new reduced rate of FiT for early adopters of wind power.
I have been with Ecotricity since early 2008, shortly after installing my Proven 6KW turbine and have always found them an excellent company to deal with. Some of you will realise that this installation date means I missed out on the proper feed-in-tariff (FiT) when it was introduced, and it looked as if I was going to have to settle for a rate of 9p instead of the 26p or so for which new installations qualified.

I was therefore more than pleased when Ecotricity decided to pay 16p per unit generated to those of us who were in this position.

However, a letter arrived yesterday announcing that from 1st April the standard FiT rate for generation will apply, namely 10.21p for generation and 3.3p for export.

I'm not sure if this means I have to fit an export meter, or whether they will just estimate the exported element.

A disappointing bit of news, although probably understandable in the present financial climate.

Sorry to hear that. Us pioneers are getting a rough deal.

Sadly I reckon that the existing subsidies being paid will be dropped before the end of the schemes, once sufficient micro renewable are in place. Is all about stimulating demand, once achieved they will divert money.

Just as we early adopters got screwed with the change from ROCs.
