Vertical Wind Turbine output?

Power possible from vertical turbine.
I am new to wind power and would like to install a vertical turbine in a fairly windy location as a semi commercial venture.
I have seen sites offering 50Kw, 100Kw and even 1Mw vertical turbines such as (French):-

These claims seem wildly exaggerated when looking elsewhere such as this forum.
Is it anywhere near possible to generate 50Kw using a 12m high vertical turbine?

At first glance their claims seem to break the laws of physics. The turbines generate more power than there is available in the wind for the (estimated) swept area. Not a good sign.
Also are you based in France? They seem to only want to lease machines in some sort of special deal hooked up with EDF (similar to the rash of 'free' PV roof-rental schemes now appearing in the UK) but where you have to pay a huge deposit up-front (supposedly funded by a grant from the French government).

Thanks, I figured it was too good to be true!
