I have found the instructions on how to service it but the main concern is lowering it and raising it, is anyone on here doing their own, what equipment are you using, eg. hand winch, socket and wrench etc?
Thanks

Hi CJL,
We now do our own servicing, since the initial free service, and use a Jet Rope Hoist 3.5 tonne rating & 30m Wire rope. Suitable for winching the 6kw/15m mast to the ground and raising again for servicing. Do you have the poles ? James

Just as an update to this, I serviced my turbine at the weekend, I managed to pick up a bargain on ebay for the 3 tonne hand winch £104 including the wire rope. Wrench cost me about 25 quid so already a saving on what my installer wanted and I'll have them for future years.
It was well worth doing as there was quite a build up on the slip rings and once they were cleaned I noticed a substantial increase in volts coming through, before hand I hadn't seen any more than 200 but as soon as it went back up it was pulling 250 and then yesterday 300. |

My friends have a 6kw proven that they lower with a tractor for servicing. Very careful bit of driving needed but it works! No "A" frame. Just meaty hausser cable. Fun. -- ddelectrical |
