The guy I bought it off second hand took the blades off when he took it down. He bolted the wedges and the plastic spacers etc back on so all I would have to do is take off the top metal plate and the plastic sleve to put back on the blade. It was great really because it saved so much time sorting out the bolts into longest to shortest. It also gave me great confidence putting the blades on. He seperated the plastic spacers with his fingers in his yard to show me where the blades go and how it was all set up for me. I put one blade on at a time and didn't take the wedges off.
The guy rebuilds engines and generator sets, skims heads, re bores, starter motors, diesel injection systems that sort of thing. He certainly would not have made this mistake. But there's the thing , what's the outcome? The wedges were on wrong so from that point on the turbine never worked. I don't know if it was working when it left his yard or had he patched it up. I suspect the hinges, and windings were dodgey, he got the windings patched up advertised it, took three months to take it down, put the wedges on wrong so if anything went wrong the blame would be with me.
He seemed so straight.
Anyway, it will work, it's just another delay. Going to make the gin pole out of scrap here. Bought 30 metres of 16mm rope supposed to pull 10ton, they are putting eyes on it at the moment, going to let it down tied to the tractor but with the digger under it ready to catch it if the tractor starts to slide. Do you know what length a gin pole should be for a 15m pole? Have you got any pics of your gin pole? pics of the how it connects to the tower and how it catches the rope would be great if anyone has some!
