Thanks for all the responses to our original posting in March. We haven't been on-line since then because we asked our solicitor to take up our case, and thus could not comment publicly. Starting legal action was an absolute last resort for us: - we had already 'rejected the goods' as unfit, we had spoken to Trading Standards both here in Sussex and in Leicestershire (where the turbine was made) but were getting nowhere. We met similar brick walls when we complained to the BRE, and even to the government departments involved in giving us our grant. Apparently no-one 'official' seems to care that £5,000 of taxpayers money has effectively gone into a turbine which has sat unused and thus generating nothing for more than a year.....

The Solicitor's involvement prompted a small ex-gratia payment from Segen in May, and a promise to keep in close touch with us if we would agree to allow Iskra another 3 months to try to solve the problems. If, by the end of July, they couldn't "bring the noise down to acceptable levels", then we would all discuss removing everything. Further to our agreement, we heard nothing until July 4th, when we were sent a copy of an email from the CEO of Iskra to Andy Pegg at Segen. It would appear that Iskra engineers are in the final stages of testing 4 seperate possible solutions, which - if succesfull - could be implemented within 4 - 8 weeks. So that's where we are now. We'll keep you all posted.

Chris, I hope this info is useful to you. Perhaps you could show this thread to your neighbours? We installed our turbine on our farm land 125m from our neighbours (and 140m from our house) as advised by Segen. Our neighbours now hate us and no longer speak to us, despite the fact that we have never switched the thing on - apart from a few short testing periods last June - because of the noise which drives us nuts!
